Exploring Orlando (Without Disney World)
I didn’t even know there was a scene in Orlando sans Disney but I sure am glad I found out! We were in town for my sister’s volleyball tournament which also happened to fall on the weekend of my birthday. I honestly wasn’t too psyched to spend my bday in Orlando but it’d been a while since I spent it with my family so I went for it and I’m so glad I did.
Here’s everything we got into, and some things I plan on doing next time:
1 —
Central Florida Fair

Debonair Supper Club
One of my travel goals is to find a great place for live R&B/Soul music that also has yummy eats in every city I visit and I can finally check that box for Orlando with this spot. Not only was there a spectacular live vocalist, but she was also accompanied by an amazing saxophone player that kept the vibes grown and sexy for the early part of the evening. After around 10, the DJ took over playing throwback hits that made it hard to leave.
Then there was the food. OMG. We ordered from the set “Feed Me Jazz” menu and it was delicious but our plates did not seem to compare to the normal menu. Just another reason to go back again!
I honestly see myself taking weekend trips to Orlando just to go to Debonair two (or three) nights in a row.

Eola Lake
One of the highlights of our trip was unwinding by Lake Eola, a serene oasis right in the heart of Orlando. We discovered a few spots along the waterfront offering happy hour food and drinks with a view, making it the perfect way to toast the day while watching swan boats glide by. There’s something magical about sipping a cold drink as the sun sets over the water, surrounded by city skylines yet feeling a world away. It’s casual, scenic, and honestly one of my new favorite Orlando traditions.

Disney Springs
Yes, you can enjoy a slice of Disney without stepping foot in the parks, and Disney Springs is proof. This open-air district is full of boutique shops, artisanal eateries, and lively entertainment that feels festive without the theme-park chaos. We loved wandering the waterfront, discovering unique stores, grabbing a bite at a trendy restaurant, and soaking in the live music that seems to pop up around every corner. It’s a grown-up, Instagram-worthy way to experience a bit of Disney magic without the lines or the crowds.
